How do I add a lecture?
From your Dashboard, click 'New Lecture'. You can upload an audio file (MP3, WAV, M4A), paste a transcript directly, or use the live capture feature to record audio in your browser. Axiom will process the content and generate your notes automatically.
How long does processing take?
A typical one-hour lecture takes 2–5 minutes to process. Audio files first go through transcription (Whisper), then AI note generation. Longer lectures or complex STEM content may take slightly longer.
Can I use Axiom for recorded lectures on YouTube or my LMS?
Yes — if you have access to the recording. Download or screen-record the audio, then upload it to Axiom. Axiom accepts standard audio formats. Note: you should only upload recordings you have the right to process.
What file formats does Axiom accept?
Axiom accepts MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4, and most common audio/video formats. The audio track is extracted automatically. Maximum file size is 500MB.
Can I edit the notes Axiom generates?
Not directly in the app — notes are generated and displayed as read-only. You can copy them into your own note-taking tool (Notion, Google Docs, etc.) to annotate or edit from there.
How accurate are the notes?
Accuracy depends on audio quality and how clearly the lecturer speaks. For well-recorded lectures, note accuracy is high. Axiom also flags sections where audio was unclear rather than silently guessing. We recommend reviewing your notes after generation, especially for precise figures, formulas, and definitions.
Does Axiom work for STEM subjects?
Yes. Axiom includes dedicated STEM features: automatic extraction of formulas and equations, step-by-step worked problems generated from your lecture content, and post-quiz error pattern detection (sign errors, unit mismatches, wrong formula selection). It works well for Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Finance, and Chemistry.
What AI does Axiom use?
Axiom uses Claude (Anthropic) for note generation, Q&A, and quiz creation, and OpenAI Whisper for audio transcription. These are both state-of-the-art models. Pro users get access to more powerful AI processing.
Can AI-generated notes be wrong?
Yes — AI can make mistakes, especially with specialised terminology, names, and precise technical content. Always verify critical facts against authoritative sources, especially for medical, legal, or engineering content.
Is Axiom allowed by my university?
Using AI to help you understand your own lecture content is generally permitted and is not academic misconduct. Axiom is a study comprehension tool — not an assignment generator. That said, policies vary by institution. Always check your university's specific AI use policy.
Can I use Axiom notes in assignments?
Axiom generates personal study notes to help you understand your lectures — not assignment answers. You should not copy AI-generated text directly into assessed work where that is prohibited by your institution. Using Axiom to understand a topic, then writing your own work in your own words, is fine.
Does Axiom help students cheat?
No. Axiom is designed to accelerate comprehension, not bypass it. It processes your own lecture content and helps you understand it better. It does not write essays, answer assignment questions, or provide exam answers. Our Acceptable Use Policy explicitly prohibits using Axiom to facilitate academic dishonesty.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel anytime from the Billing page in the app. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period. No lock-in, no cancellation fee.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your lectures and notes remain accessible until the end of your billing period. After that, your account reverts to the Free tier (limited to 4 lectures/month). You can delete your account entirely at any time from your account settings.
Do you offer student discounts?
The Student tier ($19/month) is already priced for students. Additionally, you can earn a free month of Pro for every 2 friends you refer who subscribe. See the Referral section in your Dashboard.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) via Stripe. We do not accept PayPal or direct bank transfer at this time.
Can I get a refund?
Subscriptions are generally non-refundable except in cases of billing error, extended service unavailability, or where required by Australian Consumer Law. See our Refund Policy for details.
Who can see my uploaded lectures?
Only you. Your uploads are stored securely and are only accessible to your account. Axiom staff do not access user content except where required to resolve a technical issue, with your permission.
Does Axiom use my content to train its AI?
No. We do not use your uploaded lectures, transcripts, or notes to train AI models. Your content is processed to generate study materials for you and is not used for any other purpose.
Is my data stored in Australia?
Axiom uses Supabase (hosted on AWS) and other third-party infrastructure. Data may be stored on servers located outside Australia. See our Privacy Policy for details on data handling and third-party providers.
